How to Lighten Hair with Honey

Using a natural ingredient to lighten your hair is really a good decision. Hair lightening products are loaded with harsh chemicals and these types of products are more damaging than hair darkening products. Honey is loaded with natural hair lightening properties. It is suitable for anyone with any hair type. Some benefits of using honey for hair lightening are:

Here are some tips on how to lighten hair with honey:

Ingredients you’ll need:

1 cup of raw uncooked honey

2 cups of distilled water

1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon or cardamom

1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil


Lighten Hair with Honey Method:

  • Mix all the ingredients properly.
  • Apply this mixture evenly on damp hair by using a brush.
  • Now, wrap your head in Saran wrap and put on the swimming cap. This step is essential for keeping the hair moist, as honey recipe works well on wet hair.
  • Leave it on for overnight.
  • Wash your hair a couple of times.
Honey contains natural trace amounts of hydrogen peroxide, a lightening agent. Cardamom, cinnamon and extra virgin olive oil, used in this recipe are peroxide boosters.

If you want you can also use lemon juice to lighten your hair naturally. Lemon juice also contains natural hair lightening properties. Mix 2 tablespoons of lemon juice with one cup of water. Apply this mixture over your hair; leave it on for about two hours. Sit in the sun for better result.
